Declawing: I do not believe cats should be declawed. It is a cruel, painful, and totally unnecessary surgery that is outlawed in many parts of the world. Just imagine having someone chop off your fingers at the last joint! The procedure has been known to cause behavior changes (litter box avoidance for one) and obviously renders cats helpless if they ever accidentally get out.

Claw Clipping: I begin clipping my kittens' claws around 4 weeks of age. Keeping your kitten/cat's claws clipped is of major importance in maintaining a well-behaved pet, so make sure you do this every 2 to 3 weeks.

Scratching Post Training: I begin scratching post training as soon as my kittens begin to walk! A kitten that has been exposed to a variety of scratching materials at a young age will generally not have a problem destroying furniture and carpeting. I provide sisal rope scratching posts, cardboard scratching boxes, and natural wood scratching posts for them to polish up their skills on before going to their new homes!

Shipping: I like to meet my buyers face-to-face. I will not ship a cat or kitten under any circumstances.

Outdoor Cats: Not if you're buying one of mine! Contrary to what many people believe, cats do not need to go outside. Once they get a taste of the great outdoors, regardless of whether they're on a leash or outdoor cage, they become quite adept at slipping out the door. Despite the intelligence level of Siamese and Orientals, they're incredibly lacking when it comes to outdoor instincts.

Buyer Contract: All buyers are required to sign a contract. The contract provides details on my health guarantees and stipulates other requirements that must be adhered to by the buyer. Click here for the buyer contract.

Spay/Neuter Requirements: Your kitten must be spayed (females) or neutered (males) by 8 months of age. Anytime after six months is ideal (although the longer you can hold off neutering a male, the better). If you've never heard a Siamese or Oriental female in heat, you'll think she's about to die! Spaying and Neutering benefits your cat's health and quality of life - and provides owners with peace of mind.

Immunizations: All of my adults maintain immunizations and vaccines for distemper, Rabies, and Feline Leukemia. Studs also receive FIP immunizations. Random blood testing is conducted periodically to insure negative status in my cattery. There is no contact with outside cats, other than an occasional, highly selective breeding where the visitor is required to be tested for Feline Leukemia, FIP and provide up-to-date proof of immunizations.

Depending on the size and weight of kittens, they will receive a series of three FVRCP immunizations at 6, 9, and 12 weeks of age, or two FVRCP immunizations at 8 and 12 weeks of age.

Litter Box 101 Training: Kittens generally begin using a litter box at around 4 weeks of age. It can be a game of hit or miss for the first couple of weeks but by the time they are adopted they are thoroughly versed in litter box etiquette! I use an environmentally friendly kitty litter – Feline Pine and/or Exquisite Cat Pine Pellet Litter (from PetSmart). This is a 100% safe, pure pine pellet litter that’s flushable and can even be used as mulch. A side advantage is it has the best odor control of ANY product on the market!
